Grey Zone Film Club (Delhi) presents movies in January 2007

The following films would be shown in January 2007 (all films start at 6:30 pm)

1. THE BLOOD OF MY BROTHER: A STORY OF DEATH IN IRAQ (America-84 mints.) - to be shown on 07.01.07

Director Andrew Berend's documentary takes an up-close and personal look at the tragic consequences of the Iraq war through the story of an Iraqi family mourning the death of their eldest son, who was killed by American forces while guarding a Baghdad mosque.

2. LA STRADA (Italy-1 hr. 48 mins.) - to be shown on 14.01.07

Zampano (Anthony Quinn), a performer in a traveling carnival outside of Rome, purchases the young, poor Gelsomina (Giulietta Masina) to be his wife and assiatant…The Oscar winning film is a perfect place from which to begin an exploration of Fellini's expertly crafted movies.

3. AMORES PERROS (Mexico-2 hrs. 33 mins.) - to be shown on 21.01.07

A bold, intensely emotional, and ambitious story (ies) of lives that collide in a Mexico City car crash. Definitely worth a look.

4. KHAYAL DARPAN (India-1 hr., 56 mins.) - to be shown on 28.01.07
An Indian filmmaker journeys through the world of classical music in Pakistan, and finds many surprizes - talented classical musicians and institutions thriving despite a rough past when plural cultural forms were discouraged in Pakistan.
